a DVD by Dave Organ
This is a unique record of a Gyro event that took place at Henstridge airfield in Somerset, UK in July 2000 to celebrate the arrival of the Millenium and the 21st Century.
Dave's personal introduction is followed by opening shots that convey the atmosphere of the day with a brilliant sunrise at 5 o'clock in the morning and a tour of the airfield. As the day unfolds, we are treated to detailed descriptions of the assembled Gyros and a special in-flight view of the event from Dave's onboard camera.
Special events include flour bombing and spot landing competitions and there is an interesting
cross-country flight with a landing and take-off from a private farm strip. This is followed by the prize-giving ceremony and a well deserved BBQ and BAR. The final treat is a flight to a place of special historical interest. The event was jointly organised and sponsored by the 'British Rotorcraft
Association' and Rowland Parsons' 'Rotor Gazette International'.
Dave has dedicated this DVD to the memory of his two Gyro-flying friends Keith Balch and Mel Morris Jones - both of whom have now sadly passed away. Both had previously accompanied Dave on
several Gyro flying missions and they also appear in the film. Running time is approximately 65 minutes.
